The mission of the Underground Scholars Initiative (USI) is to create pathways into higher education by providing support, community, and opportunities for formerly incarcerated, justice-impacted individuals and allies. USI advocates for justice and higher education accessibility. This population’s unique perspective on societal problems and solutions are imperative in these spaces, pushing the boundaries of academia through research, art, and storytelling.
The Second Chance Month student display will be in the Science Library through May 2025.
Launched in spring 2024, the UC Irvine Libraries’ Student Displays Pilot Program shares the work and creativity of UC Irvine students with the campus and local community. Temporary displays in UC Irvine's Langson and Science Libraries, created by students, can include original student art, writing, research, and more in both physical and digital formats.
Proposals are welcome from UCI students, student organizations, faculty, and staff. To learn more about the program, see our program guidelines and proposal form and visit our program FAQs.
