Tidy Data: Data Organization with Spreadsheets

Online

Join UCI Libraries Digital Scholarship Services to learn best practices for data entry and organization using spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft Excel. This hands-on, interactive workshop will teach participants how to create tidy data that is organized and structured in ways that can be clearly understood by other people, and easier to analyze and visualize. Topics include: formatting data tables, handling dates as data, quality assurance and control, exporting data, etc. We will use Microsoft Excel for this lesson, but participants can also use other spreadsheet programs such as LibreOffice, Gnumeric, or OpenOffice.org.

This virtual workshop is open to UCI faculty, students, researchers, staff, and alumni. A calendar invite with Zoom info will be sent to registered participants. A recording of the workshop will also be made available to those who register and cannot attend the workshop.

For questions, please contact Data Curation Librarian Wasila Dahdul at wdahdul@uci.edu, or Digital Scholarship Services Librarian Shu Liu at shu.liu@uci.edu.
