Do humanists use data? What exactly is “humanities data”? If you’re interested in these questions and want to learn more, this workshop will provide an overview of humanities data, including where to find it and how to use it. We will also discuss how you can manage and share humanities data to promote research reproducibility and to increase the impact of your work. Throughout, we will share a variety of resources, including data repositories and digital tools, that can help scholars explore research questions across the humanities.

This workshop is presented by the UCI Libraries and the Digital Humanities Exchange (DHX).

Learning objectives:

  • Understand what “humanities data” is and what kind of data humanities scholars use or generate.
  • Learn about where to find and share humanities data.
  • Understand data management principles and best practices.
