ACM/OER Listening Session with Advocates

In-Person

Help the UCI Libraries Affordable Course Materials & OER Initiative reduce educational costs for UCI students

Students on campus have long struggled to afford textbooks and course materials, and the COVID-19 pandemic only worsened the problem. UCI Librarians are working to help reduce costs for students so they can afford necessary materials and books, take the courses they need, and graduate on time.

One avenue for reducing costs is the adoption of OER (Open Educational Resources), which are zero cost, available on the first day of class, reusable, and remixable. Another avenue is using library-licensed resources for required course materials, which are zero cost for students while also increasing library support for research and curriculum development.

To improve our efforts, UCI Libraries needs to learn more from faculty and instructors like you: how do you feel about OER, and what are the barriers to OER adoption and creation? We cordially invite you to a listening session with the UCI Libraries Affordable Course Materials and Open Educational Resources (ACM/OER) Team.

Breakfast foods and beverages will be served.

Location: Langson Library, Room 229
