Join us for an immersive workshop and Q&A session featuring a reading of selected poems from Naturalize My Life, including Pho is a Love Language, The Ocean Remembers, My First Autumn at Twenty, and What Fruits are in Season?
Together, we’ll explore themes of mental health, the deep connection between nature and well-being, and how these concepts intersect with sustaining life and fostering emotional connections in STEM education. Discover how love languages can be used to express appreciation for our planet. The workshop will conclude with an eco-poetry session, where you'll have the opportunity to create your own zines, expressing your reflections and creativity!
Victoria Nguyen is an environmentalist, poet, and scholar that graduated from UC Irvine in 2021 with BA degrees in both education and social ecology as well as two minors in global sustainability and psychological sciences. Seeing how the history of environmental education heavily focuses on individual behavior change and often excludes the perspectives and solutions of BIPOC communities, she is pursuing a PhD in education at UC Irvine specializing in teaching, learning, and educational improvement (TLEI). Through her research, she hopes to collaborate with K-12 students and undergraduates to collectively take climate action and work toward an equitable and interdisciplinary future in environmental education.
