Version Control with Git Workshop

Online

This is a quarter-long asynchronous course held in Canvas from Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 12 a.m. through Sunday, March 30, 2025 at 12 a.m. The total amount of participation time is approximately 4 hours.

Version control is the lab notebook of the digital world: It’s what professionals use to keep track of what they’ve done and to collaborate with other people. Every large software development project relies on it, and most programmers use it for their small jobs as well. And it isn’t just for software. Books, papers, small datasets, and anything that changes over time or needs to be shared can and should be stored in a version control system. This workshop will cover setting up Git, tracking changes, and collaborating with others.

For more information, please contact Danielle Kane in Digital Scholarship Services at libdss@uci.edu. Registered participants will receive invites to the Canvas workshop on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

Do you work at the UCI Medical Center? If so, you can join the workshop. All we need is your UCInetID to send you a Canvas invite.
